Series: from “Welfarism vs. Abolitionism” to an Inside-Outside Strategy

This two-part blog I published with Pax Fauna resonated with a broad swathe of animal advocates who found themselves on either side of a long-standing factional dispute yet intuitively felt that this dispute was not serving the movement and did not accurately describe the diversity of strategies employed by advocates.

Part 1 critiques the framing of “welfarism vs abolitionism” through the lens of my own experiences in the movement.

Part 2 offers a new framing based on social movement literature and some original ideas.
